Welcome to our developing website 2026!This year SOSA-XA! Choir celebrates 25 years operating weekly in term time in Sheffield,South Yorkshire. Even during COVID we met weekly to learn music and keep everyone in touch thanks to the hard work of Charlie Banda via Zoom from Sunduza Dance Theatre in Bulawayo(Zimbabwe)www.sunduza.org
SOSA-XA! based in Sheffield is currently led by Keithu Motlogwa who was a member for many years. We are so fortunate he lives in Sheffield and is willing to put up with demanding volunteers. He has been preceded though by Tonderai Phiri from Siyaya theatre now based near Liverpool, Richard Mahachi based in Leeds from Umkhati Theatre (Bulawayo), and we pay homage to the late Mandla Sibanda who led the group from 2002 to 2012(Sunduza) and the founder-the late Simon Banda(Sunduza) who founded the group in May 2001. www.youtube.com/sunduzatv

Requirements
We do not have auditions. No need to read music. Just a willingness to learn how to sing in Southern African languages including Shona, Ndebele, Sotho etc. and to move around in harmony. We teach even beginners how to sing for healthy outcomes.
Why Join?
Over many years the choir has in the past supported a huge education programe for primary schools and community festivals. We were created to support a foundation link between Sheffield and Sunduza Dance Theatre in Bulawayo with supportive fund raising links. The programme has raised funds for the youth theatre work in and around Pumula in Bulawayo, artist training programmes both locally, and in South Africa and international links to Uganda, Botswana, and South Africa.
We have also supported fund raising concerts by other organisations who fund programmes in Southern Africa.Members of the choir also went on a community tour to Zimbabwe and South Africa.
